FUNERAL SERVICES FOR THOMAS NIELSON HELD IN THE FIRST WARD
Funeral services for Thomas Nielson 82, were held in Fillmore First Ward Church, August 15, 1959. Bishop LaVoy Kimball conducted. Prayer at the mortuary was offered by Clarence Wade.
Prelude and postlude music was played by Marjorie Robinson. The opening prayer was by Pres. Ashby Robinson.
A mixed quartet, Thomas Whatcott, Lindon Robinson, Mary Jean Robinson and Edith Dearden, sang “O, My Father.” They were accompanied by Cheryl Shafter.
Winford Paxton was the first speaker. After his remarks, Roy Tomkinson sang “In The Garden”, accompanied by LaPreal Swallow.
Milton A. Melville was the next speaker, after which the quartet sang, “Sometimes We’ll Understand.”
Bishop Kimball made the closing remarks and the benedication was pronounced by Uriel Paxton.
President Ray Olpin dedicated the grave in the Fillmore Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elvon Mitchell, Jim Rowley, Sam Wade, Glen Jennings, Freeman Rowley and Charles Coleoco.
Mr. Nielson died in te Fillmore Hospital August 10, after a stroke. He was ill only a short time.
Out of town relatives attending the services were daughter Ethel and husband Louis Nobriga and daughter Myrtle French, granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coleoco, all of San Lorenzo, California; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Jennings and son, Santa Barbara, California, (granddaughter), Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Mitchell (grandson) and family, Brigham City; brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs., Nephi W. Nielson, and daughter, Mrs. Virginia Stramp of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Nielson, Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Phyl Poulson S.L.C.; Mrs. Al Cline, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Murphy, Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Warner, Deseret; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dearden, Garrison; Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Mitchell, Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Larson, Mrs. Ethel Darnan, Monroe; Mrs. Norman Paxton, Kanosh; Mrs. Chole Teeples, Holden; Mrs. Otto Lambertson, Mrs. Max Lambertson, Aurora.
Mr. Nielson is survived by his widow, Urina Rowley Nielson, son Marvin and daughter, Mrs. Bernetta Muir, Fillmore; Mrs. Nobriga and Mrs. French, California.
