History: Charles Henry Sperry

Charles Henry Sperry was born 15 October 1850 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States to Charles Sperry, age 21, and Emily Louisa Miller, age 23. He was the 2nd of 11 children, and the 1st of 4 sons, born to the couple. His sister Philenda Amanda Sperry was born 16 November 1848, also in Salt Lake City, and was 1 years old when Charles Henry was born.

When Charles Henry was 1, his sister Sarah Elizabeth was born on 16 August 1852 in Nephi, Juab, Utah, United States. 

On 9 October 1854, Charles Henry’s sister, Mary Emily was born when he was 3 years old, also in Nephi.

Miles Harrison, Charles Henry’s first brother, was born when he was 6 years old on 27 March 1857 in Nephi.

Charles Henry was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1858.

On 19 February 1859, when Charles Henry was 8 years old, his sister Clarissa Lorretta was born in Nephi.

Marion Olive, Charles Henry’s sister, was born in Nephi on 4 April 1861 when he was 10 years old.

When Charles Henry was 12 years old, his brother, William Josiah, was born in Nephi on 27 July 1863.

On 20 August 1865, when Charles Henry was 14 years old, his sister Susan Jannett was born in Nephi. Sadly she lived less than 5 years and died 3 March 1870.

John Alphies, Charles Henry’s brother, was born when he was 17 years old, in Nephi on 22 February 1868. He sadly only lived just over 2 years and died 17 March 1870.

When Charles Henry was 19 years old, his mother gave birth to a stillborn daughter in Nephi on 7 June 1870. She was named Vilate.

Charles Henry completed his initiatory and endowment ordinances and then was married and sealed for time and eternity to Caroline Webb, age 20, when he was 21 on 13 November 1871 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ Endowment House, which is located at 50 North West Temple in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.
