History: Emily Esther Sperry

Emily Esther Sperry was born in covenant on 27 August 1876 in Nephi, Juab, Utah, United States to Charles Henry Sperry and Caroline Webb, both 25 years old. She was the 3rd of 11 children, and the 1st of 8 daughters, born to the couple. Her older brother, Charles Alonzo, was born 7 December 1872, and her older brother Arthur David was born 30 October 1874. They were also born in Nephi.

Emily Esther’s mother gave birth to twin girls. Jeanette and Jeanevery, when she was 2 years old on 15 June 1879. Tragically, Jeanevery died when she was 8 months old on 22 February 1880. She died by accidental suffocation when sleeping in the same bed as her mother and twin sister.

On 29 January 1881, when Emily Esther was 4 years old, her brother Henry Melvin was born in Nephi.

Retta, Emily Esther’s sister, was born when she was 7 years old on 9 November 1883 in Nephi.

When Emily Esther was 8 years old, she was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 3 September 1884. 

Emily Esther’s sister, Emma Della, was born when she was 9 years old on 2 April 1886 in Nephi.

On 13 May 1888, when Emily Esther was 11 years old, her sister Lillian May was born in Nephi.

Eva Pearl, Emily Esther’s sister, was born when she was 14 years old, on 29 June 1891 in Nephi.

Emily Esther’s youngest sibling, a sister, was born when she was 17 years old. Her name was Ruth and she was born in Nephi on 15 August 1894.

On 13 September 1905, when Emily Esther was 29, she completed her initiatory and endowment ordinances and was then married and sealed for time and eternity to Karl Farnsworth in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ Manti Utah Temple, which is located at 200 East 510 North in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, United States. Karl was 23 years old at the time.

Charles Alonzo died at the age of 39 on 1 May 1912 in Salt Lake City. Emily Esther was 35 years old when her brother died.
