History: Elsa Nelson

Elsa Nelson was born on 21 April 1858 in Efveröd, Kristianstad, Sweden to Niels Nelson, age 31, and Anna Anderson, age 36. She was the 3rd of 5 children, and the 1st of 3 daughters, born to the couple. Her older siblings were: Nels, born 12 August 1852 in Borrestad, Skåne, Sweden; and Andrew, born 18 July 1885 in Efveröd. She also had a half sister, Elna Isaksdotter, who was born 13 December 1847 in Borrestad.

When Elsa was only 4 days old, she was christened on 25 April. She was christened in Efveröd.

On 2 September 1861, when Elsa was 3 years old, her sister Hannah was born in Lyngby, Skåne, Sweden. Later that year, on 18 November 1861, Elsa’s brother, Nels, died in Lyngby. He was only 9 years old.

Another sister, Anna, was born when Elsa was 6 years old, on 8 June 1864 in Efveröd.

When Elsa was 24 years old, she married Jens Rosenquist Nelson on 2 September 1882 in Efveröd. Jens Rosenquist was 22 years old at the time of their marriage.

Elsa gave birth to her first child, a son, when she was 24 years old on 24 December 1882 in Efveröd. They named him Nels Rosenquist.

When Elsa was 26 years old, she gave birth to her first daughter on 7 July 1884 in Efveröd. They named her Anna Rosenquist.

Another daughter was born when Elsa was 28 years old. They named her Hanna Rosenquist and she was born 4 October 1886. Sadly she died when she was almost 3 months old on 1 January 1887.

On 10 July 1888, when Elsa was 30 years old, she gave birth to another son in Efveröd. They named him John Rosenquist.

When Elsa was 31 years old, her sister Hannah died at the age of 28 on 22 September 1889 in Lyngby.

Elsa gave birth to another son when she was 33 years old, on 6 October 1891 in Efveröd. They named him Edward Rosenquist. 

On 29 July 1893, when Elsa was 35 years old, she was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by Niels Monson.
