History: Charles Benjamin Harper

Charles Benjamin Harper was born 21 November 1848 in Hackney, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom to Benjamin Harper, age 22, and Elizabeth Phipps Brand, age 25. He was the 1st of 7 children, and the 1st of 4 sons, born to the couple.

On 12 September 1850, when Charles Benjamin was 1 year old, his brother Alfred (Samuel) was born in Bethnal Green, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom, Sadly, he only lived until he was about 6 months old and died in March 1851.

Charles Benjamin’s second brother, Alfred William, was born when he was 4 years old. He was born 12 August 1853 in Walworth, Surrey, England, United Kingdom. 

Ann Elizabeth, Charles Benjamin’s first sister, was born when he was 8 years old on 18 April 1857 in Holborn, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom.

When Charles Benjamin was 11 years old, his sister Elizabeth Martha was born. She was born on 30 July 1860 in Holborn. She died when she was only 2 years old on 21 November 1862. She died in Bromley, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom.

Another sister joined the family on 28 February 1863 when Charles Benjamin was 14 years old. They named her Mary Elizabeth and she was born in Bromley.

On 15 September 1865, when Charles Benjamin was 16 years old, his brother John Samuel was born in Bromley.

Charles Benjamin was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when he was 18 years old.

When Charles Benjamin was 20 years old, on 11 January 1869, he completed his initiatory and endowment ordinances for The Church in the Church’s Endowment House, which is located at 50 North West Temple in Salt Lake City. Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

On 11 December 1871, when Charles Benjamin was 23 years old, he married and was sealed for time and eternity to Harriet Gibbons. Harriet was 20 years old at the time. They were married and sealed in The Church’s Endowment House.

Charles Benjamin’s first child, a son, was born when he was 24 years old on 25 May 1873. He was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Utah, United States and they named him Charles Benjamin, Jr.
