1897 – I went down to the court house and practiced. Returning home I called at the post office for the Burton’s mail and took it up to them. I had dinner there. In the afternoon Mrs. Burton and I went down town while in the Excelsor one of the clerks gave me a red veil, he said he would give it to me if I would promise to wear it. Towards evening Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) came up to Burton’s and wanted me to go down town with her. Coming out of Hyde’s store we met Monte (Whitmore) and he walked over to the drug store with us. We stood there talking for a little while then Monte called to Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) and asked if we might have a geranium or two. When he said we could we went in and got some. Oscar gave Esther two pretty bottles that were empty. When we left the drug store we went out Clifford Bales then we went over to McPherson’s. we came up to Rich’s and then went over the street to Zell Ockey’s to see Aunt Deal (Cordelia Webb) and Uncle Bob Pyper (Robert Alexander Pyper), of Salt Lake. We came down to Grandma’s (Emily Louisa Miller) and Lizzie McPherson called to see us. Esther and I went up to Burton’s to get ready for the dance. Esther, Mrs. Burton and I went to the dance with Oscar. I had quite a nice time. At the party I met a Mr. Steele. Esther and I slept up to Grandma’s.
1897 – Before breakfast I went over to Miller’s to see Will. After breakfast I went down to the court house and practiced on the typewriter for a while. I came back at noon and then went down again in the afternoon. After coming back to Grandmother’s (Emily Louisa Miller), I wrote a letter to Bessie Sperry. I went down town and posted it. I had supper over to Aunt Emily Black’s (Mary Emily Sperry) and in the evening was over there to a rag bee. About nine o’clock I went outside and met Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) and talked to him for a few minutes. He asked me to go to the dance tomorrow night. I went back into the house and stayed until midnight when Grandma Sperry and I went home to her house. Grandpa Webb (David Webb) was buried today. We scarcely knew Grandfather Webb as he very seldom ever came in our home.
1897 – In the afternoon I went down to Foote’s and then out to McPherson’s. I met Ada Salisbury and we went back up town. I called at the court house but Mr. Foote wasn’t there. I met Stella Taylor and we called at Grandmother’s (Emily Louisa Miller) then up to Burton’s and then to Aunt Augusta’s (Emma August Taylor). In the evening I went to Foote’s for a lesson. Coming home I met Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt). We stood talking at Grandmother’s gate. Georgina Wilson came out of the gate. Oscar opened it for her but it was so dark she didn’t recognize him and started to run, she thought he was a tramp. I laughed and she turned back to us, we walked home with her. I slept at Grandmother Sperry’s.
1897 – Mr. Burton and Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) called at the farm to get Lon’s (Charles Alonzo Sperry) mail they were going up to the mine to see him. Ada Salisbury and Annie Perkins came down to our house they stayed a short time and then left. I walked up town and went to afternoon meeting. Brother Messer was the speaker and we enjoyed his talk very much. Esther (Emily Esther Sperry), Della (Emma Della Sperry) and I went for a walk then up to Burton’s. We went to evening meeting. Oscar took me home.
1897 – Father (Charles Henry Sperry) and I walked up town. I called at Grandmother Sperry’s (Emily Louisa Miller) and Lil Black (Lillie May Black) and I went down town afterwards I went up to Burton’s. In the evening I went down to Foote’s for a lesson. When I returned to Burton’s, Mrs. Burton and I went down town to post a letter. Later Oscar Lunt (Alfred Oscar Lunt) came up.
1897 – Uncle Jim Black (James Robert Black) and Oscar Lunt (Alfred Oscar Lunt) came down to the farm. Oscar came to take Lon (Charles Alonzo Sperry) and Uncle Jim up in the hills.
1897 – Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I walked up town, we went to Grandmother’s (Emily Louisa Miller) and then I went over to Aunt Emma’s (Emma Elizabeth Webb) and took a music lesson. I went down to the court house but Mr. Foote was not there so I could not practice. I went over to the post office and then crossed the street where Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) and Fred Moore were standing talking. I talked with them for a minute or two then Oscar walked with me as far as Aunt Sarah Abbott’s (Sarah Elizabeth Sperry) home. I called at Grandmother’s and then up to Burton’s. I went down to Foote’s for a shorthand lesson afterwards I went over to Kendall’s and then up to Aunt Augusta’s (Emma Augusta Taylor). Spent the night at Burton’s. Oscar came up and spent the evening.
