1897 – Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I walked up town and went down to Foote’s for my short hand lesson. Mr. Foote was not at home. We then went up to choir practice. Melvin (Henry Melvin Sperry) called for me and we went to the theater “Mollie Benin.” I slept up to Burton’s.

1897 – Melvin (Henry Melvin Sperry) took me up town in the afternoon. I went up to Burton’s and Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I went out to Aunt Elizabeth Miller’s then down to the drug store to buy a writing tablet, the druggist, Monte (Monte Whitemore), Rob Ord and Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) were there. We next went to the Excelsor and over to Hyde’s store, we called in the post office and got Burton’s mail. We walked up to our now house and went through it and then down to Burton’s. Mrs. Burton was down town so I went down to the Excelsor and found them there and we three walked up to home together. After supper, Esther and I went down to T.L. Foote’s and I took another lesson in shorthand. Went up to the new meeting house and then on up to Burton’s where I slept.

1895 – I walked down home and we washed all day. Towards evening Esther (Emily Esther Sperry), Melvin (Henry Melvin Sperry) and I went up to town. Esther and I went to the store and bought me a Pink Waist. We went to a meeting in the Academy Hall and after the meeting we went to a Democratic Meeting. Eli Batchelor took Esther and Dora Norton home. Lil (Lillie Black) and I went alone up to Grandmothers. After Eli and Dora had gone, we went out doors and met Earl Mangum, Ada Taylor, Jennie and Della Kendall, and Tom Painter. We danced around on the lawn for a while and then sat on the lawn, talking until eleven o’clock, and then the company left.
