February 1, 1897 (Monday) – I walked out home.

February 2, 1897 (Tuesday) – Home all day. Received a letter from Will Tolley.

February 3, 1897 (Wednesday) – Home all day.

February 4, 1897 (Thursday) – Home all day.

February 5, 1897 (Friday) – Esther, Father and I went up town to attend a hard time dance before going to the dance, Esther and I went up to Burton’s. The dance was a failure owing to so few coming out. We three returned to the farm

February 6, 1897 (Saturday) – Went to town. Melvin took me up to Burton’s. I then went down town to the post office and Hyde’s Store. Then up to Aunt Emily’s I bought a book in short hand from her. Next I went over to Aunt Sarah Abbott’s and Uncle Charles and I went to choir practice. Min Abbott walked part ways home with me. I slept up to Burton’s.

February 7, 1897 (Sunday)  Fasted and went to Sunday School, afterwards Amy Bigler and I walked away together, we called at Judge Higgins to see Lil Black she got ready and went with is up to her mother’s home. Then we went to fast meeting. After meeting I went up to Burton’s and had supper there. In the evening Mr. Burton and I went to meeting. I slept at Burton’s. 

February 8, 1897 (Monday) – Went over to Aunt Emma Hague’s and took my music lesson while there I met Miss Florence Pike of Provo. I went over to Grandma Sperry’s and then down to the post office. Coming from the office as I was passing the drug store Oscar came out I gave him the book he had loaned me. We stood talking for a few minutes. I then went up to Grandmother’s and then walked out home.

February 9, 1897 –(Tuesday) – Arthur telephoned to Father and he went out to Santaquin to play to a dance.

February 10, 1897 (Wednesday) – Home all day.

February 11, 1897 (Thursday) – In the afternoon I went up town Melvin took me up to Burton’s. in the evening Oscar Lunt came up and spent the evening. He brought me a book of Ella Wheeler Wilcox book of poems “Poems of Passion”.

February 12, 1897 (Friday) – I stayed up to Burton’s. In the afternoon I went down to the post office. Oscar was there and we walked across the street together. I went back up to Burton’s and in the evening Esther and I went to a choir dance in the new meeting house. After the dance Father and I came out home.

February 13, 1897 (Saturday) – Home all day.

February 14, 1897 (Sunday) – Home all day.

February 15, 1897 (Monday) – In the afternoon Father and I went up town, I went up to Burton’s and then down town. I went over to the Coop and then over to Hydes’s Store. I called in at the port office and then went back up to Burtons. I went to the Valentine Dance with Father he had six partners: Mrs. Burton, Zoa Christensen, Min and Maud, Esther and I, he had us a lovely time. It was like one of our old last winter dances, just lovely. I got to dance with our new druggist and found out that his dancing was as nice as himself. I met Mr. Ramsey McPherson, he is quite a nice dance, I got one valentine, they had nothing but slurs there and mine was a beauty I can tell you, I believe Monte sent it. After the dance Father and I came out home.

February 16, 1897 (Wednesday) – We received a letter from Arthur. I answered it.

February 17, 1897 (Thursday) – About noon Mother and I went to town. We stopped at Grandmother Sperry’s. I went up to Burton’s then returned to Grandmothers and Esther, Aunt Mollie and I went down town. First to the Excelsior and then over to Hyde’s store, then to the post office. Aunt Mollie sent me over to the drugstore for her (of course I didn’t seek the chance). Oscar was in there and waited on me and I waited for him to fill the prescription for me. From there I went back to Grandma Sperry’s and up to Burton’s. Later I went down to T.L. Foote’s for a lesson in shorthand. I slept up to Burton’s.

February 18, 1897 (Thursday) – About noon Mother and I went to town. We stopped at Grandmother Sperry’s. February 19, 1897 (Friday) – I walked out home

February 20, 1897 (Saturday) – Melvin took me up town in the afternoon. I went up to Burton’s and Esther and I went out to Aunt Elizabeth Miller’s then down to the drug store to buy a writing tablet, the druggist, Monte, Rob Ord and Oscar were there. We next went to the Excelsior and over to Hyde’s store, we called in the post office and got Burton’s mail. We walked up to our now house and went through it and then down to Burton’s. Mrs. Burton was down town so I went down to the Excelsior and found them there and we three walked up to home together. After supper, Esther and I went down to T.L. Foote’s and I took another lesson in shorthand. Went up to the new meeting house and then on up to Burton’s where I slept.

February 21, 1897 (Sunday) – Esther and I went to Sunday School in the North Ward. Esther was voted in as organist. After Sunday School, Della Kendall and I went over to the post office. In the afternoon Amy and Sarah Bigler came up to Burton’s and visited us a while. After they left Mr. And Mrs. T.L. Foote came up, and later Della, and had supper with us. In the evening Oscar Lunt and Fred Moore came up. About nine o’clock, Mrs. Burton served ice cream and cake. Della and I slept there with Esther.

February 22, 1897 (Monday) – I wrote a letter to May Reid. In the afternoon Mrs. Burton and I went down to the post office. In the evening I went to a dance in the Opera House. We had us a lovely time. I came out home after the dance.

February 23, 1897 (Tuesday) – In the evening I went up to choir practice.

February 24, 1897 (Wednesday) – Home all day.

February 25, 1897 (Thursday) – In the afternoon I walked up town and went up to Burton’s. In the evening I went down to Foote’s for a lesson in shorthand. When I came back up to Burton’s there was a large crowd there. They danced and sang and enjoyed themselves. Mr. Moore’s girl was there, she seems to be a very nice girl. About 12 o’clock they all went home, except Oscar. He soon left. Those present were: girls – Neva Booth, Mamie Hyde, Millie and Maud Boshard, Vina Fenn (the last three were from Provo) Esther, Mrs. Burton and myself; boys – Eddie McCune, Fred Moore, Shed and Oscar Lunt, Ellsworth Jones, Monte Whitmore, Mr. Burton and Clifford Bale.

February 26,  1897 (Friday) – I went down to Grandma Sperry’s and then down town. I called at the tithing office and paid my tithing, which was one dollar. I went over to Hyde’s Store and then to the Excelsior, back to Grandma’s and then down home. Evening I wrote to Will Tolley.

February 27, 1897 (Saturday) – Home all day. Ed Shephard came over from Mona and brought his little brother for a violin lesson.

February 28, 1897 (Sunday) – Home all day.
