1947 (Friday) – I was aroused from my sleep before six o’clock to find Alfred (Alfred Oscar Lunt, Jr.) and Mary (Mary Etta George) and her mother (Catherine Ellen Rosser) eating a breakfast which they had prepared for themselves, they didn’t want to disturb be until it was almost time for them to leave for home. I felt quite chagrined to think I hadn’t heard them or awoke myself, as I usually do wake early. They left about six-thirty or a little before. Mary is driving their car, her mother riding with her and Alfred is taking our car down with him to see if he can sell it down there, he may sell his own and keep ours. I couldn’t help shedding a tear or two when I saw the car go as it was Arthur’s (George Arthur Lunt) car and he loved it so, of course if Alfred keeps it, it will still be in the family. A bit of sentiment I guess.
Lillian (Lillian Lunt) bottled seven quarts of fresh and none bottles of jam, apricot. I had to go to the city and county building to pay our water tax, also to renew Oscar’s (Alfred Oscar Lunt) insurance. The company has decided to let those retired carry on the insurance. Was talking to Sister Eliza B. Smith and she said her husband is very ill.
