Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1947 (Sunday) – Lillian (Lillian Lunt) went to Sunday School. In the afternoon, Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt), Edna (Edna Viola Nelson) and Grace (Grace Viola Harper) called for me and I went for a ride with them. We went out to Bountiful, then back to Port’s (Porty Lewis Gabbitas). Della (Della Lunt) and the children (Ivy Joan, Gordon Lewis, Larry Lunt, Judith Ann and Ted Lunt Gabbitas) were there. Port was at work. Larry fell from a little tree on to his face, so he is all scarred up. We talked to them for a little while. They gave us some cantaloupes and watermelons from their garden. On our way back to Salt Lake, Earl took us up City Creek Canyon as far as the Rotary Park. It was a lovely cool ride. The only thing I dreaded was meeting cars on some of those narrow streets.

He then drove up to Fort Douglas, past the hospital and old barracks and then continued on up to the monument (This is the Place), then home. I stood the ride fine, felt a little tired after I got home. Sister Smith came in to see me. She still looks and feels quite miserable.
