1902 (Tuesday) – I have been working around all day. This morning Vic Candland and Brother Paxton (William Paxman) called in a buggie [sic] and took me up to register. Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) tended the babies (Alfred Oscar, Jr. and Lillian Lunt) while I was gone. While we were eating dinner Mrs. Whitmore and Mrs. Vickers called in for a few minutes. Esther and I were laughing, after they were gone, at what we had on the tables, for we had put the pudding on the table in the dish in which it was cooked, and when I put the biscuits on I left them in the tin they were cooked in. So I guess they thought our table looked real nice? This evening I went over to Grandma Lunt’s (Priscilla Pitt) for some yeast. When I got back I found Esther showing the babies some pictures in a book and telling them stories about them. They were both spellbound. I tried to get Lillian to come to me, but she wouldn’t, she just looked up and tried to tell me in her baby language what she was looking at. Mrs. Boyer, Kate Bailey and a Mrs. Peterson came in for a few minutes.
