Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1904 (Saturday) – Was home all day. Aunt Sarah Abbott (Sarah Elizabeth Sperry) came to see us and while here, she gave Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I a blessing.

In part, this is what she told me: That the Lord loved me for the integrity of my heart that He could see my heart and that it was pure and white before Him. She said that I loved the Gospel and had charity towards those who were careless and longed to see them do better. That I should have wisdom in teaching my children (Alfred Oscar, Jr., Lillian, Charles Gilbert, Eva Ruth, Della, Earl Sperry, George Arthur, Melba and Robert Sperry Lunt) and they would bless me for my teachings and that my husband (Alfred Oscar Lunt) should bless me for the spirit of peace that was in the family. That I should have great influence over my husband and children. That my prayers should be answered in the Lords due time and that in due time my husband and I should go to the House of The Lord and receive the ordinances. That I should be blessed with spiritual gifts and temporal and I should know how to use them with wisdom, that I should know when to arise and that I had a great work to perform that should reach into Eternity, that I should be able to confound the wise with my words, that I should be charitable and should give liberally of my means, that I should have faith in sickness and be able to withstand the adversary. That my parents (Charles Henry Sperry and Caroline Webb) loved me and my brother’s (Charles Alonzo, Arthur David and Henry Melvin Sperry) and sister’s (Emily, Jeanevery, Retta, Emma Della, Lillian May, Eva Pearl and Ruth Sperry). That my spirit was blessed before I came to this earth. That I should have great bodily strength and should have many friends.

Oh I can’t remember all she said, how I wish I could write it as she told it. She said her whole body was thrilled by the Spirit of God and that it was not herself that was giving that blessing but she was mouthpiece and the Lord put words in her mouth to say.
