1904 (Thursday) – This morning Sister McCune said “I wonder if it is ready to be lanced?”. I said “Oh, Sister McCune, don’t lance my breast,” but she answered “ If it needs to be done she would call in a doctor and have it done.” She put on a flax seed poultice and left telling me if I needed her to send for her.

Mother (Caroline Webb) came in to change the poultice and while she was waiting for it to cool a bit, I noticed it had broken by itself, I called to Mother and told her to send at once for Sister McCune, she came and by working with it we got out about a teacupful of puss. Oh wasn’t I thankful. Sister McCune came over again and poulticed it.
