Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1916 (Sunday) – Again it has been three weeks since last I wrote in my book. I am feeling so much better now. I have been able to go into the stores once and am able to work some now. Last Monday (8th) my Husband (Alfred Oscar Lunt) took the two little boys (Earl Sperry and George Arthur Lunt) and myself to Provo for the day, we certainly enjoyed the ride, called at Emery Epperson’s (Don Emery Epperson) and spent two or three hours with Sarah (Sarah Jane Sperry), having dinner with them. We went down to Walter Taylor’s, the children (Alfred Oscar, Jr., Lillian, Charles Gilbert, Eva Ruth, Della, Earl and George Lunt) were anxious to see their shetland pony, so Mr. Taylor hitched it up to the little buggy and his little girl took them for a ride. I met Mrs. Taylor, she was sick in bed, but I enjoyed a few minutes talking to her. We returned home about seven o’clock.

Yesterday was quarterly conference. I attended the meeting in the afternoon and after meeting we had a Relief Boarding Meeting. Sister Williams of the General Board was in attendance and gave us some fine instructions.

In the evening Alfred, Lillian, Bert and Eva went to a scout dance. My Husband stayed with the other three children and I went up to Sister Chappell’s, where the Stake Board met to spend the evening with Sister Williams. We, all of us, enjoyed ourselves very much.

Today I went to a Relief Board Meeting in the High School Building at nine a.m. then at 10:30, went to Sunday School and in the afternoon, went to meeting. It was all a great treat to me. I am tired tonight after walking so much, but hope I won’t suffer much with my foot. After supper, my Husband and I went up to see Mother (Caroline Webb) for a few minutes, it being Mother’s Day.

My Lillian (Lillian May Sperry) and Della Shaw each gave me a carnation. It has been such strange weather lately, we are afraid the frost has taken most all of the fruit as well as the first crop of Lucerne.
