1916 (Friday) – On Tuesday May 23rd, I attended the 8th grade dance in the Emro. Alfred (Alfred Oscar Lunt, Jr.) and Lillian (Lillian Lunt) also went. All of the children (Alfred, Lillian, Charles Gilbert, Eva Ruth, Della, Earl Sperry and George Arthur Lunt) were promoted this year, but Alfred will have to take the eighth grade over again. On Friday 26th, I walked up to Aunt Gusta Sperry’s (Emma Augusta Taylor) to surprise her. It was in the afternoon and we had a lovely supper, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Later, Aunt Emily Black (Mary Emily Sperry) and I went down to a picture show. The walk was too much for me and I suffered for days with my foot.
On Sunday May 28th, 1916 four of the children and myself went over to Moroni with Dad (Alfred Lunt) as he had to take ‘Peggy’ there *a man with a peg leg), We enjoyed the ride and I met a Mrs. Anderson. As Dad took us to her home, she seemed very nice and had a beautiful home.
Tuesday May 30th, Decoration Day. We went up to Mother’s (Caroline Webb) and arranged some flowers and took them up to the cemetery. Today, June 2nd, Lillian Carter (Lillian May Sperry) has been sewing for me, and in the evening, I went to the picture show. I am following continued picture, so like to go on Friday evenings.
