1916 (Thursday) – It’s my 37th birthday, Della and Stella Shaw came to see us. Della gave me a pretty handkerchief with a crochet edge. In the evening, Mother (Caroline Webb) called down and took me to the picture show and afterwards, treated me to ice cream.
Friday and Saturday, I was home all day and working quite hard so that Saturday night I was feeling quite miserable as my leg was swollen real bad.
