Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1945 (Wednesday) – I went to work. Found in my absence  they had taken everything out of my desk and given it to Gwen Bryner. Had even removed me from the board. I can’t describe how peculiar I felt. After all these years of work, as if I had been uprooted and thrown out. I felt depressed, as if I wanted to cry. Naturally, I rather expected to feel a little sad at leaving, so I guess it is all right, they had to have a desk for a new researcher and they didn’t know when I was coming back. I am trying to finish this week, if possible.

I made a list of letters I had to answer and they were eighteen. On Tuesday I wrote to Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt), Georgetta (Georgetta Marie Lunt), Retta (Retta Sperry), Della (Della Lunt) and Jean Snader.

Wednesday, I wrote to Lillian (Lillian Lunt) and Dorothy (Dorothy Snader).
