1945 (Friday) – This afternoon sister Eliza B. Smith and I went over to the assembly Hall, where the funeral of Herbert Auerbach was being held. The public were permitted to see him. The Hall was filled to capacity and I have neer seen such a gorgeous display of flowers. But, oh what a difference in services to what we have at our funerals. Brother Asper was at the organ and Jesse Evans Smith sang two solos. The rest of the time was taken by the pastor. First, he read some quotations from notes he had, then he prayed and afterwards, he gave a talk, but the wonderful spirit present at our gatherings was absent.
I wrote a letter to Lillian (Lillian Lunt). I purchased some flower seeds, which I want to start in the house. It is trying to snow this evening.
