Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1945 (Monday) – We have been having some lovely warm weather and today the ground is all covered with snow, everything looks beautiful. I had one pretty daffodil out yesterday, I wish I had picked it, for it is out of sight now.

We received a letter from George (George Thornton Holman), he, with the help of two nurses. Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) was put into a wheelchair for a few minutes last Thursday. If she continues to improve, they will operate on her hand, take the end of her finger off and fix the rest of it soon, then after a week or two, let her come and Dr. Hovey will take care of her. This was good news to see that much improvement.

Have been cleaning a little in my kitchen. Towards evening, Sister Holman (Alice Menetta Thornton) called on the phone, said she had received a letter from her daughter, Deon (Deon Holman), who said Eva has had her hand operated on and, if nothing prevents, she may go home in about two weeks.
