Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1945 (Sunday) – We had quite a large group in our class in Sunday School, some visitors, including an Indian woman. I introduced the subject, which was forming a Family Organization. Then I turned the time over to Sister Hyrum Valentine. She represented one of a family who was interested in genealogical work and had called her people together to try and form an organization, quite a lively discussion was had, Grace Ensign was chosen as Chairman and Sister Zarvis as secretary, before they could act, except for the secretary to take minutes of what we did, the time was over and we will continue next Sunday. We decided to name our organization “Samuel James Smith Family Organization”. We are making up an imaginary family, a man with five different wives and we hope to tie up some of the relatives of this group as in-laws and in the way, get them busy on their line and try and help them individually, as far as possible.

I didn’t go to church in the evening.
