1945 (Tuesday) – Dad (Alfred Oscar Lunt) took Sister Smith and I out to the Deseret Mortuary to see Nicholas G. Smith, he looked splendid. About 15 minutes to twelve, Sister Smith and I went to the Assembly Hall where the funeral of Brother Smith was held, it was filled to capacity and the flowers were gorgeous. The speakers were: Harold B. Lee, Brother Romney (an assistant to the twelve) and David O. McKay. President Clark conducted the services, the McMaster’s sang a duet, and a chorus under the leadership of Brother Cornwall sang several splendid songs. Bishop Langson gave the closing prayer. Brother Smith will certainly be missed by many people, as they all loved him so.
