MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENCY:
Greetings to all and may the holiday season bring you, one and all, its greatest possible joys and happiness that will last throughout the year is happy remembrances. It is really nice to be able to send such greetings to you, ????????
We’ve come to a lull period in our family, of working together, of which we must all do our part to overcome and to keep alive the high resolves and purposes we set out to attain. We must not lag or let our tugs become slack, because when we slow down it throws the weight of burden on others, and if they slow down the work stops.
We’ve now been organized for a little over two years and we’ve accomplished much in this period. We now have a fair record of the descendants of our common ancestors, John Rowley and Sarah Wright. There are still more family group sheets and much history we should have and hope to get on file as soon as we can get the records of them. We are, however, very thankful we have as much as we have and express gratitude to those who have assisted in any way. We wish to especially pay tribute to Luella Downard and Angie Warner, and their co-workers, who have worked tirelessly to accomplish this. It has been a big job, and one that everyone of us could help with and should do whatever we can to help.
We are now facing a big project of doing the research work to find the ancestors of our common ancestors, John Rowley and Sarah Wright. We as the executive body of your family organization, have started things rolling, but we need the help of all as all this research is from across the waters and most of it will have to be hired done. We have some money in the bank for research, but there isn’t enough to make much of a start and then we would have to stop for the lack of funds.
Perhaps each of us could include in our budgets, something for this research each month, or each year so we could build this account up to the extent that we can keep this work going. If we let those who have done so much for us down, then we are merely taking a free ride at the expense of the rest of the family, or those who contribute. This work is going on some way or another, and we hope and pray that each of us will pitch in and do what we can.
Now to bring you up to date as near as I can in this short space. There have been many hours spent in research at the library and elsewhere and so-operative work by different members of the family on their own, which has netted us a good deal of information. We have formed an Allied Rowley Research Organization, of which our Family Society is a member, to work together with man, other Rowley Organizations. Some of these Rowley Organizations have been doing hired research for many years and have more in their unconnected family group records then we have in our whole record. So you see it is about time we get busy with our researchers and heads of these other Family Organizations.
The members of the Allied Rowley Research Organization will confer about every three months, or so and whenever records found that are ours, we exchange, and likewise when records are found to belong to other families we exchange, and likewise when records are found to belong to other families we exchange and try to work out these large unconnected family record books. This will multiply our work and eliminate an immense amount of duplication, which has been one of the big headaches.
We must have a researcher to represent our family in doing our own research and our part in the Allied effort. We haven’t as yet done a drop in the bucket to what 74 we must do to have a really acceptable record, which we must have.
Let your contributions be what you want them to be, let each of our shares be work or the equivalent in money that we can hire someone to do your share. Much of this has to be done overseas and has to be hired. In this way we can all do our share and it won’t really be hard on any of us, but think what the united effort can and will accomplish
Thank You Very Much
