1946 (Thursday) – Port’s (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) sister Ivy Averett (Ivy Rosella Gabbitas), came early to our home and Father (Alfred Oscar Lunt) let her take the car and we went out to Della’s (Della Lunt) home. Lillian (Lillian Lunt) and Ivy cleaned and painted the woodwork in the bedroom and the windows in the front room. I cleaned all through her cupboards and took care of Teddy (Ted Lunt Gabbitas).

About 2:30 a.m. I woke up to find I was in severe pain in my right leg. I never have had anything like it before. I felt almost like one who is being tortured, so severe was the pain, the pain is from my hip almost to my knee. I heated the electric pad and put it on my leg, then later, I got up and turned on the heater in the kitchen and sat by the stove until I became so hot I was afraid I might faint. I rubbed consecrated oil on the afflicted part and prayed earnestly to the Lord to relieve me. At five o’clock I went to bed and to sleep for an hour and was much better when I woke. Evening – we had a Genealogical party in the Relief Society Hall, a splendid program was given and some games and then they served the refreshments, in all my life I have never seen and tasted better refreshments, every arranged so dainty and lovely and tasted so good, and such a variety, the committee surely deserves a lot of praise for what they did.
