1946 (Saturday) – I was awakened about two o’clock again starting with the pain, I massaged my leg thoroughly and it settled down by about six o’clock. At seven o’clock, Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) brought the children (Ivy Joan, Gordon Lewis, Larry Lunt, Judith Ann and Ted Lunt Gabbitas) to me for the day. I had Chip and Ivy Joan clean the two doors in the dining room. After that, the three older children played games most of the time until almost eleven o’clock in the evening. Teddy and Judy played nicely most of the day. At Della’s (Della Lunt) house, Ivy (Ivy Rosella Gabbitas) and Lionel (Lionel Lee Averett), their son Verl (Verl Lionel Averett) and his wife (Phyllis Marcella Bowden), Paul Buys and my Lillian (Lillian Lunt) cleaned and painted until at least 8:30. Port helped in the evening, of course Ivy and Lillian worked all day.
As soon as they took the children away, I went to bed.
