1946 (Tuesday) – Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) brought Lillian (Lillian Lunt) and the two youngest (Judith Ann and Ted Lunt Gabbitas) when he went to work. I was feeling a little better, although I hadn’t slept a wink since two-thirty Monday afternoon, prior to that I had slept all night Saturday, most all day Sunday, all night Sunday and most of the time until two-thirty on Monday, but after that, I was surely awake. Lillian spent most of the morning shopping and in the afternoon she went to the hospital to see Della (Della Lunt). When she returned, she said Della had been released to go home and Port was to call for her on his way home, which he did, and took her out with him.

It snowed all day, until there was a deep snow on the ground. Later, I phoned and talked to Della, she was feeling fine and so happy to be home again. When they took her in the house and she saw what they had been doing for her, she said: “ I just had to cry”.
