Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Friday) – I went to town, called at the Temple and took my clean clothes there and put in my drawer. I visited Miss Margaretts at the Historians Office. She had received a telegram from Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt). I called at the library for some material, then home.

Evening – Dad (Alfred Oscar Lunt) went with me to the Pageant. The telegram was read and Brother Provost said Earl’s parents are present and asked us to stand up.

The pageant was a success, everything went off like clockwork. Brother Durham took charge of the music and Mrs. Hyrum Loutensock was the soloist. She is a beautiful girl and her voice is exquisite. All too their part so well, all I talked  to after the pageant said it was so different than most pageants, so homelike, and they were loud in their praise of the last scene, as it ended in a Ward Conference in which Tom had a chance to bear his testimony. The little boy, Ray Ervine certainly took his part to perfection. All were loud in their praise of Earl’s power to write.

Miss Margeretts certainly worked hard and it was very clever they way she chose her characters, and all fit into their parts so well, in the working out the parts a lot of additions was added to the dialogues.

I surely was happy over it all.
