Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Monday) – Have done my bit of washing. Received a letter from Dorothy (Dorothy Snader) in which she stated she was engaged to Carl Hunter (Carl Hatch Hunter). May be married in June or July.

At 1:45 p.m. Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) took me up town and I went to the Doctor’s office. He wasn’t there and I had to wait until almost four o’clock to get my appointment. My blood pressure was down to 174, a loss of six points, but my pulse was up at least four points, and I had sugar, three plus. The Doctor was quite provoked at me. When I came out of the building it was raining and I didn’t have an umbrella. A lady shared hers with me while waiting for the street car and another lady got off the car where I did and shared hers with me for a block, so I didn’t get very wet.

Earl almost had dinner ready for us when I got home, thank goodness.
