1946 (Saturday) – Busy in the home until after 12 noon, then Bert (Charles Gilbert Lunt) and Agnes (Agnes Coalter Golightly) came in on their way to the funeral of Sister Sears. I went with them, it was in the 17th Ward Chapel. There was some lovely flowers, there was quite a large group of people present. They had some songs and several speakers, the last being Apostle Lee. I wish I could remember the wonderful talk he gave to us. Sister Sears had never had any children, but he said “she has a splendid companion awaiting her in the spirit world and someday they will have the power to beget children and she will have the pleasure of raising them”. He said that us one great hope to all those who have longed for and have not tried to prevent their coming to them, that they shall have their quiver full of them. He spoke of the three degrees of glory and some of the conditions that will qualify us for one of them, in our future life, said the responsibility rests upon us as individual, we may choose whom we will serve, it has ever been so from the beginning of this earth to Adam and Eve were given two laws, they had forgotten all about their life before their birth on this earth, but they had to use their own judgement which law to keep, had they refrained from partaking of the forbidden fruit, they would never have had a chance to return to their Father in Heaven. They would have died in their sins and Satan would have had power over them.
As it was by keeping the greater law and breaking the lesser one, a Savior was raised up according to the plan and they were taught, by angels, what they should do.
We too can obtain a testimony of the Gospel and the Holy Ghost can point out the way for us to go and it is up to us to choose whether we will keep the laws of God or reject them.
