Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Thursday) – Morning – I called for Sister Allred and we started to call on a few people on genealogical work. At 106 W. 1st N. Apt. #23 the lady was not interested, she is not a member of the Church and did not care to talk with us. We then went down stairs to Apt. 33 where we found a lady and little boy, she was not a member of the Church, but she invited us in and was very interested in my Book of Remembrance. Her people came from Alabama. Her husband is a Major and they may be leaving here most any time if he gets his discharge. We left a chart and two family group sheets and she promised to fill them out for us, that a copy might be placed in the Genealogical Archive.

We next visited Sister Springer, she was very pleased to have us call and she wants to come and see me and have me help her make out some family group sheets for her. We stayed there so long, she could not visit more families that day. Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) and Della (Della Lunt) and the two youngest (Judith Ann and Ted Lunt Gabbitas) had lunch with me. Afterwards, Clara Woodbury and I went up to Kresses and other stores, hunting for ribbon for our maypole. I walked there and back, which made me terribly tired. I called at the Genealogical Office to see Sister Baird. While there I made an appointment with Brother Bennett to see him Wednesday or Thursday the next week about my Bishop work.
