Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Wednesday) – Attended a luncheon given to the Relief Teachers by the Officers. They, with many honored guests, made quite a large group in attendance. Dinner was served in the large room upstairs of the Lion House. A card on friendship and a long stemmed rose was at each plate. Doris Dalby White was Mistress of Ceremonies, and she was a good one. The topic of the entertainment was friendliness and Sister White said we would gather an old fashioned bouquet of flowers. First was violets, and there a young mother gave a talk on violets; then there was daisies, pansies and roses, etc. It was all very lovely and the talks were interspersed with songs and piano music. My sister Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and Ilene Bagley furnished the piano duets.

It was certainly a very lovely occasion and everything went off just fine. Afterwards, I shopped and then came home very tired indeed.
