1946 (Tuesday) – It took me all morning to do my ironing. Afternoon – I went to Relief Society, the last lesson of the season or until fall. Sister Doris White gave the lesson, it was on folklore, etc. She said all children should have access to Aesop’s stories, also mentioned Han Christian Anderson’s fairy stories, which should be accessible to all.
Felt the Old Testament stories are better for the very small children, then the New Testament stories, there are a few that are splendid, but most are too hard for them to grasp. As an example, she said her little boy was brandishing a pair of scissors too close to her sister Della’s little girl. When the girl’s mother cautioned him of the danger to the child and said you might put out her eye, and he said that wouldn’t matter as Jesus could make her see again. Quite a challenge to those mother’s to explain to him that Jesus doesn’t heal all those who are blind.
