Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Friday) It is cooler today. After breakfast Carl (Carl Hatch Hunter) and Dorothy (Dorothy Snader) returned to his brother’s (Arvel Hatch Hunter) but came back again towards evening, they took Lillian (Lillian Lunt), my sister Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and a Sister Hill, his brother’s mother-in-law (Vera Andrus Hoagland) out to Saltair. It was mutual night out and there was such a mob out, the traffic was terrible. Agnes (Agnes Coalter Coalter) was in town for conference. She had dinner with us then went to Saltair with a group. It was unwise in her to do so and while there she collapsed and had to be carried out on a stretcher. Bert (Charles Gilbert Lunt) met her there and took her home. Although their program was splendid, there wasn’t much pleasure out there for anyone because of the crowded condition there. Cars were parked out along the road to resort for at least a mile from the pavilion. I’m glad I wasn’t invited to accompany any of them out there. I’d rather be home.
