Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Sunday) – Lillian (Lillian Lunt) went to Conference, com M.I.A. meetings. I remained at home.

Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) and Lillian were invited by the Nelson’s to go for a long ride through the canyons. They called at Bert’s (Charles Gilbert Lunt) home and found Agnes (Agnes Coalter Golighlty) was very sick in bed. Nervous condition.

Evening – I attended a meeting in the Tabernacle sponsored by the Mutuals. George Q. Morris and Lucy Grant Cannon were the speakers. There was a chorus of girls, 500 voices from nearby stakes, under the direction of J. Spender Cornwall. It was very lovely. A talk by Apostle Harold B. Lee, then some war experiences by an ex-serviceman and woman. Later President George Albert Smith spoke to the crowd.

I walked to the lady sitting next to me and she said she was a Sister Wooley, her husband was a Chaplain in the Army and had to sit on the stand. I found, through questioning her, her husband’s grandmother, or great-grandmother, Mary Anne Olpin, was my grandmother Webb’s sister (Esther Olpin)

I remained to hear the evening broadcast, which was very interesting to watch and listen to, the 500 voice chorus took up most of the time.
