1946 (Sunday) – Attended Sunday School, the subject was on the Church Welfare plan and the speaker dwelt some on the United Order, how the Lord had given it to the people for them to work out righteousness in the world and he quoted form the Doctrine Covenants showing that even in their day, Zion might have been redeemed had the people been able to to have loved the Lord with all their heart, mind and soul and to have loved their neighbors as themselves, because they were not prepared for the coming of the Savior they were led to the valleys of the mountains to be tested and trained for the coming of the Savior, now in the last ten years, the Church has been working on the Church Welfare Plan and it is growing year by year and is probably a forerunner of the United Order. The people have got to prepare themselves to be ready against the coming of the Savior.
Afternoon – I slept almost all afternoon. Went to church in the evening. The Daughters of the Pioneers had charge of the program and Franis Urie was the speaker. He certainly gave an inspired talk which seemed to fit in with the morning’s lesson.
After Meeting, Esther (Emily Esther Sperry), having some tickets for the concert in the Tabernacle, took me with her. It was a musical program by the Tabernacle choir with a tenor soloist, Richard Bonelli. We were there until after 10 o’clock, but it sure was grand, it is part of The Pioneer’s of ‘47 Program.
There have been some parades and other program’s, but I have not attended any of them.
