Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Saturday) – Had a lot of work to do. Evening – Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) and I went out to Allen’s to see Maxine (Maxine Carter) and her new baby boy (Brent Howard Allen). It is certainly strange the way they treat the new mother’s now, on the third day, Maxine sat with her feet hanging over the side of the bed, on the fourth day she was walking around, on the eighth day she went home and has taken care of her baby ever since, the following Tuesday or Wednesday. She walked over to Primary to hear her daughter (Ardith Sharon Allen) play the piano. Tonight when Earl  and I went up there she was getting ready to go to a party with her husband (William Howard Allen), they were taking the baby with them. Time has sure changed in the last few years.

When Earl and I were going out there, we passed Mildred’s (Mildred Gladys Sperry) home and Aunt Vera (Vera Lucille Daley) was out on the porch. We took her to Maxine’s with us. Afterwards, we called by Mel’s (Henry Melvin Sperry) new home where he was working and then took Vera home. We went in for a little while.
