Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Tuesday) – I had to take Dad’s (Alfred Oscar Lunt) pen to Held’s to get a new pen point, as it had been dropped and the old point ruined. I wanted to go to the Archives to do some recording, but had no pen, so I hunted up an old one and decided to take some ink with me. I picked up a bottle without looking to see if the cap was on securely, it was in the pasteboard cover. I placed it in a paper sack, with a sandwich for myself, and a scarf. When I went to put the sack on the showcase, I saw it was leaking ink. The man in charge of the store was very kind, brought something to wipe it all up and gave me something to clean my hands, was I embarrassed. He took my dirty sack, sandwich and all and gave me a clean one to put my soiled scarf in. I left the pen for repairs and did some shopping and returned home. Afternoon – I went to the Library for an hour or two.
