1946 (Sunday) – Attended Sunday School and Fast Meeting. Subject in Sunday School is the Church Welfare Plan. Today they discussed the United Order and how they tried to live it in the beginning, but were unable to do so because of the weakness of man. Had they done so, Zion might have been redeemed even then. I wonder if we are any more ready for the Savior’s coming than they were then, for we have got to be able to live God’s Law when the Savior comes and that means loving one another as well as ourselves and willing to turn over to the Church everything we have and receive in return a stewardship sufficient for our needs and wants. The Gospel has got to be the dearest thing on earth for us and we must live with an eye single to the glory of the Lord.
Evening – I went to Meeting. It was under the presiding Bishopric, a Brother Jones came with pictures of beautiful flowers and landscapes, showing what can be done to beautify our homes. This seems to be a project to get our city looking lovely for the centennial celebration in 1947.
