Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Thursday) – I called at Esther’s (Emily Esther Sperry) and took her two rosebuds and a book as it is her birthday today. We joined two other sisters from our ward and went down to the Church Welfare Center. I worked in the kitchen and Esther in the sewing room, we peeled onions and cucumbers for several hours, they were making pickles, dill and bread and butter. This is the first time for me and it was a sight to me to see what can be accomplished through cooperation, the materials were the best that could be found anywhere.

I wrote Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) and Lillian (Lillian Lunt).

I enjoyed my day there and was very grateful that I could stand the work so well.
