1946 (Sunday) – I attended Sunday School. Some of the beginnings of the Social Security (or Welfare) work was discussed in an interesting way. I slept some in the afternoon and in the evening I attended Sacrament Meeting. T. Edgar Lyon (I think was the name of the speaker) he talked on the teachings of the Savior, told a story of a boy and a girl, just outside of his office at school, who had just come from different classes, the one claimed that heredity was the cause of our success or failure in life (that was the boy) while the girl said it was environment that counted, they argued and argued. Brother Lyon turned to the bible on his desk to see what the Savior had taught on this subject, very little is written on the subject, yet in His sermon on the mount, he told who would inherit the earth and counselled the people what kind of lives they must live if they would come back again into the presence of the Father.
