Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Thursday) – I went up to the Library for a little while, doing some recording of ordinances and some checking in the Index Bureau, then I went to two banks, called at the market and home. In my absence, George (George Thornton Holman) and Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) came, but left again. Eva phoned me later.

She went to the clinic at four o’clock and then phoned again to say, because of her good condition, she would not have to have the first operation, but later on what needed to be done could be done at one time. I couldn’t help but weep for joy, for I felt that my prayers had surely been answered. I have kept her name in the Temple as often as possible and I had prayed sincerely and earnestly that Eva might be spared that first dreadful operation. I plead with the Lord to give me faith sufficient to bring a blessing to Eva and that when she came for her examination the doctors would decide the first big operation would be unnecessary.
