1946 (Wednesday) – Sister Allred and I continued our visits on 1st West. Called at two large apartment houses. Talked to the landlord of one who was not a Mormon, nor interested at all in genealogical work. We only found one woman. She’s not a member, but said it sounded interesting, but she was due up town in a few minutes, so we did not go in. The 2nd apartment could find no one at home where we knocked, saw one lady hanging out her wash. She said most of the people worked and were gone all day. She was not interested . Her folks were Mormons, but she had joined the Catholic Church.
As we turned the corner, going East on 2nd North, the first house contained two apartments, occupied by Japanese.
One family not at home, the other not interested, learned later they were Catholic.
Our next call was at 1st East 2nd North, two apartments. On the West side the lady was outside sweeping leaves. We talked to her for some time. Her Mother’s people pioneers settling in Beaver, but the Mother has joined the Christian Scientists, has had some very wonderful healings, therefore they think there must be a lot of good in that religion.
We then went to the East Side and found a lady at home. She has two sweet children. She is a Mormon. We left her two pedigree charts and two family group sheets, which she promised to fill out.
In the afternoon I went to town and then to the Library.
Evening – Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I went to the Ward House for our Recommends.
