1946 (Monday) – Did my bit of washing. Something was wrong with our gas water heater and with my oven to the stove, I could smell gas, so Dad (Alfred Oscar Lunt) phoned the gas company for an inspector to come down. A valve had worn out on the heater, it would take a plumber, the oven certainly needed some repair work. I phoned all over for a plumber, but was unable to get one. I did get a partial promise, it was next morning before we could get one and we had to heat all the water we used on the stove, back to primitive days. Seemed like the day was completely spoiled and I didn’t accomplish anything.
