Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1946 (Friday) – Sister Spitzbardt and I went on our ward visiting. We enjoyed it very much. Everyone at home welcomed us so. One home we came to there was a new woman in with the old occupant, as we entered, we passed a large chair and I noticed some legs dangling from the front of the chair. I thought what a large doll that is, then I saw if it was no doll, but a little girl. She is four years old, but was injured at birth. She cannot walk or talk and is so thin her mother carries her around in her arms. She is from Idaho and is here to see if she can get some treatments in the Children’s hospital or somewhere. The child is a pretty little thing, but oh so pitiful.

Evening – I went up to the Library. I helped two sisters, one was Sister Mills. I had helped her before. She said she would check at the Library next Tuesday to see if they could obtain a copy of some 1861 census records of Pontypridd and Mt. Ash, Glamorganshire, Wales.

Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) met me and walked home with me.
