1946 (Tuesday) – Sister Allred and I went out on Genealogical calls. First at the home of Mrs. Rancel V. Sorenson at 287 North West Temple. She was in the hospital with a new daughter, her sister was staying in her home. We left two pedigree charts and two family group sheets, which she promised to get filled out.
We next called at the back entrance of the house just south of 287. We called there before and were told to call later and today the lady said she was in a hurry and would we call some other time.
We next called at the apartment 261 North West Temple apartment 5. The landlady, she is a non-member, but said she would be glad to give us a copy of her pedigree chart if it would help to have it in the Genealogical Archive. I made a copy of the information she gave me from memory. Will check it at the Archive to see if more information can be found there. She is from Illinois, her parents were from New York. She has been married three times, each husband is dead. She has no children. I did not leave a copy of the chart with her , as she is not interested, but I told her if I found any new information, I would let her know.
We next went to apartment 2. A man and his son-in-law were living there together. His grandparents all came from Ireland. The tradition in the family is they all descended from Beleton Robinson, the first Irish Perry.
He has an old bible which his people brought from Ireland and he has some family records in the bible. We advised him to take the bible to the Historian’s Office and give into their keeping so that it might be preserved.
He is also a non-member. Did not want a copy.
Afternoon, I went to Relief Society. Della Provost gave the lesson. She had called on four sisters to give part of the lesson, it was certainly very nice.
This evening I am home, rather tired after quite a strenuous day. I received a letter from Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt). They are well. She said Sister Holman (Alice Menetta Thornton) fell down and broke her arm.
