Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1947 (Thursday) – Today Sister Allred and I continued to visit apartments in 225 North West Temple.

In apartment 2 we found the Hinckley’s living. He is quite miserable all the time. We had left sheets for her to fill out, but she has failed to do so. It is a recall visit.

In apartment 1 is a young couple. She, a member of the Church, wants us to come again in the afternoon sometimes. Her husband sleeping because of working late. J. J. McMillian.

Apartment 3 – Robert Warren. She was not feeling very well, has two children old enough to be in school . Left two charts and two group sheets to be filled out.

Apartment 4 – Harold Cazier. Only married a short time, she quite lonesome while he is at work. They are not members of the Church, but she has read a Book of Mormon. We invited her to Sunday School and Sacrament Meeting, also told her about Relief Society and invited her to attend. She has a friend who is a researcher at the Genealogical Society. We invited her to go to the Library and commence research on her lines. She has very little information about her people. Some of her Mother’s people were Norton’s and lived in Nephi. We left some charts and group sheets, which she will fill out. I helped her to start one for herself. I am anxious to see if her people are related to the Norton’s that I know.

Apartment 5 – Luther Darnell. His mother at home. She is tending the two children during the day. She is from South Carolina. I must return within three weeks and she promised to fill out a sheet and chart which I left with her. Not members of the Church.

We knocked at the door of apartment 6, H.M. Schneider, but no one was home.

After lunch, I went to town. Towards evening, Harrison S. Sperry (Harrison Spencer Sperry) called over the phone to see if he could come up and see some of my Sperry records, he is a brother of Sidney B. Sperry (Sidney Branton Sperry) and a grandson of Uncle Harrison Sperry.

He came in shortly after 7:30 and it was almost eleven o’clock before we could find a stopping  place. He had some record which I have not got and I had a lot of information which he wishes to get. He promised to come and spend the day with me next Thursday and see what we can do. I am so glad to see a member of Uncle Harrison’s family interested in this work. He only started last July.
