John Rowley and Sarah Wright Family Messenger

MORONI T. ROWLEY AND MARY MAXFIELD
Reported by Clara Rowley O’Toole

It is my sad duty to report the passing of one of our group, Francis, wife of Ralph A. Rowley, of Tacoma. My brother, Ralph sent in two items for publication in the November issue, telling of her very serious illness. Her death occurred, October 28, 1959. Private funeral services were held, and no flowers requested. A contribution to any Cancer Fund was suggested. “May she rest in Peace.”

Frank and Vena Rowley of Kenai, Alaska, are the proud grandparents of a granddaughter, born October 23, to their daughter, Anni and Johnny Hopkins, also of Kenai. She was named Caroline Sunday,

Mark T. and Leona Rowley, or Newport, Oregon also Report a granddaughter, Sally, born to their son Tommy and Pat Rowley, date not given.

Billie and Verne Amundson daughter and 84 son-in-law of Frank and Vena Rowley of Kenai who have been living in Seattle for the last two years, are spending six months on Oceanport, N.J. where Verne is taking some special training.

Mary O’Toole Goodsell, has re-enlisted in the WAC. She has a Captain rating and is stationed at F. McClellan, Alabama.

Selma and Wesley Whilt, who are in the field of education on Long Island, N.Y. spent their Christmas holidays in Florida.

On page three of the Messenger for November, there is an article stating that there are four people living who are second generation from Ralph Nephi and Mary Ann Thompson.

In as much as my father, Moroni Thompson was a son of Ralph Nephi, would not that make my brothers and sisters and me second generation? There are eight of us.

Then there are the living persons of Elizabeth Ann Rowley and Ira D. Lyman. Chester Lyman and Mabel Lyman O’Fallon are living and maybe others, and they are grandchildren of Ralph Nephi and Mary Ann Thompson.

I was very much interested in the history of Mary Ann Rowley Jones. She and I were born the same year, so I believe we’re first cousins.

Sincerely,
Clara Rowley O’Toole

(Mrs. O’Toole’s letter has been referred to our Historian. We appreciate very much her observations.)
