1947 (Monday) – Had a big washing today. Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) felt fine. She made a chocolate cake, prepared lunch. It is just two weeks since she had her operation.

While Eva was talking to Doctor Hatch over the phone he asked her if she would do him a favor. Of course she said “yes”. He wanted her to come up to the hospital about 10 to eight, in the evening, as he was going to give a lecture to a group of doctors and he wanted them to see her. I went up with her. We waited in the hall near the place where the talk was to take place and when they were ready he came for her. She had to sit by a table in front and Doctor Bowerline and Doctor Hatch talked about her case and showed x-ray pictures that had been taken of her. I was in the hall and could see their faces and they all seemed very interested. She was in there about twenty minutes.
