John Rowley and Sarah Wright Family Messenger

The following is a letter written to us by the family of Frances Rowley, wife of Ralph A. Rowley of Tacoma, Washington.

David Wm. Rowley and Family Society,

I’m so sorry I didn’t inform you sooner about mama’s death. She passed away quietly in her sleep, Wednesday afternoon, October 28, 1959. We had a quiet, private funeral, October 31, at the Mountain View Funeral Home, and Memorial Park by her request. Our mother had requested she have no flowers but instead any donations go to the Cancer Fund. Her request was fulfilled.

We are very grateful to Mrs. Alice (Rowley) Fuhrman for her help and her thoughtfulness. Aunt Alice came up from Forks, Washington the week prior to Mother’s death, she left Friday, the 27th.

Mother did a little art for a pastime and she wrote a great many short stories and a lot of poetry. Here is one of her favorite poems:

“A Dedication”
by Mrs. Frances Rowley

Sing a song of recompense
For a heart devoid of pride.
Four and twenty failures,
Only prove I’ve tried.

When Heaven’s gates are opened,
Please let the angels sing —
Of efforts spiked with error.
Dedicate it to our King.

Sincerely yours,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rowley,
Mr. and Mrs. James Edwards,
Mr. Ralph A. Rowley
