1947 (Saturday) – Have been home all day. This morning it snowed quite hard, but is pleasant this afternoon. It was after two o’clock before we heard anything about Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt). It was a very long operation. George (George Thornton Holman) phoned to his folks (George Eber Holman and Alice Menetta Thornton) and before they could phone me, I called them. He said she was through the operation and everything was fine, would report again later.

She was on the operation table seven hours. During the operation, she became nauseated, which delayed the work. George stayed with her until eleven o’clock when a private nurse took his place. Brother Holman went up and stayed with her while George went out to lunch.
