Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1947 (Friday) – Busy at home cleaning all morning. In the afternoon Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) had to go up to the Clinic, so we went in a bus. She is doing fine and her doctor was quite proud of her. The trip didn’t seem to hurt her, in fact, she felt stronger than ever.

Evening – I went to the Ward Amusement Hall with Sister’s Smith and Erekson. There were skits by four organizations. First the Relief society, which was very amusing, showing how one bit of gossip can grow into a mountain. Next the Primary. Two girls looking at the family album and each picture was represented by someone. It was very lovely. Third was a skit by Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) through M.I.A. Coons with one old man in particular, they sang “Old Man River” very nicely. The second scene was at the pearly gates where he was trying to enter, being pursued by the devil, Brother White, also a coon, went through the audience looking for his chicks, whistling in a way that sounded as if little chickens were in this room. He went up on the stage still looking when three young girls came out representing M.I.A. those were his chickens.

The Sunday School had a mineral show with singing and jokes.

It was all very nice. Della (Della Lunt) had dinner with us, we went home on bus.
